In Its Prime

Original watercolor on 300# cold pressed paper.

Our house was built in 1901 and our hydrangea shrub is probably sixty years old now. When we moved here it was six feet wide and 6 feet tall.  Covered with a mass of blooms.   It is still blooming but losing limbs yearly and pretty soon it will be gone.  There are still old -fashioned plants in the yard that were mature when we moved here 40 years ago.  Lilacs, snowballs, pomegranate, wild plums, rosemary, English walnut and peonies have had a long life here.
